I'm planning to use Carrera Marble (http://www.lightemprador.com) for my kitchen Counter (http://GialloFiorito.com) tops. I don't like the highly polished look & would much prefer a honed finish. I know a honed finish will not stay looking "perfect" but I don't want perfect. Here's the problem..we live 70 miles from everywhere & no fabricator willing to do business in this area will supply Marble (http://www.lightemprador.com) with a honed finish. It seems the Marble (http://www.lightemprador.com) comes from the importer with a polished finish & they refuse to hone it. I've done some tests on a small sample that I have. I tried light hand (http://maplered.com) sand (http://maplered.com) ing with 200 grit & the finish seems to look good. I also tried a vinegar wash & that seems to look good too. I've read on the site about using a muriatic acid/water wash. Before I take a chance on ruining the Counter (http://GialloFiorito.com) tops I'd like to know if anyone has any opinions on which technique would be better to remove the high gloss with the least damage to the Marble (http://www.lightemprador.com) itself & hopefully the least work for me.
